About Second Hand Golf Sets

eBay is the biggest second-hand golf shop in the UK, but its search can't tell you whether a club is a good price, whether a set is 5 clubs or 8, or which listings are left-handed. We built Second Hand Golf Sets to answer those questions for every listing.

Where the listings come from

We search eBay every day through eBay's official Browse API for 384 driver, wood, hybrid, iron, wedge and putter models from 57 brands, plus full sets, electric trolleys, rangefinders and launch monitors, mainly on eBay UK and also in the US, Germany, Australia and Canada.

How we clean them up

• Only whole clubs. Heads only, shafts, grips, headcovers, single irons from sets, bundles, fakes and broken clubs are taken out.
• Matched to a model. Each title is matched to its brand, its club type and its model line (a Ping G430 driver is never mixed up with a G430 hybrid or a G425 driver).
• Read in detail. Hand, shaft flex, steel or graphite, loft, head version (Max, LST, SFT...), set makeup, headcover and condition are read from each title, and from the start of the seller's description when the title doesn't say.

How we work out a typical price

For each model we take the Buy It Now asking prices including postage, split by condition (new or unused, excellent, used, and well worn), remove the outliers, and use the median. Iron sets are priced per club, so sets of different sizes compare fairly. We need at least 4 comparable listings to call a price typical. These are asking prices, not sold prices: clubs often sell a little under them.

Deal scores and warnings

Every Buy It Now listing is scored against the typical price for the same model and condition. Anything 40% or more under typical is flagged rather than celebrated, because that's where fakes, heads-only and mislabelled listings sit. Sellers with under 10 feedback or under 97% positive are flagged too. Auctions show the current bid, not a score.
