Golf clubs lose value fast when a new model comes out, but they don't wear out quickly. The trouble is knowing what's a good price. Five checks before you buy any used club

Right hand, right flex. Use the hand and flex filters: a stiff shaft in a slow swing costs height and distance.
Look at the face. Worn grooves, dents or cracks matter; sky marks and sole scratches don't.
Count the clubs. In iron sets and full sets, count what's in the photos and compare the price per club.
Check the grips. A full regrip costs £60-£100.

Is it cheaper than trading in?
