Before you buy a used PXG 0311 P irons

  • Count the clubs. A 4-PW is 7 clubs, a 5-PW is 6, a 6-PW is 5. That's why we score sets per club: a cheap 6-PW isn't a better deal than a fair 4-PW.
  • Check the grooves and faces. Look for even wear across the faces. Worn grooves reduce spin, especially on the short irons.
  • Check the shaft and flex on every club. All the clubs in the set should have the same shaft and flex. Mixed shafts usually mean replaced clubs.
  • Look for the original grips or recent new ones. A full regrip costs about £60-£100 for a set, so worn grips knock that off the value.
  • Pay through eBay. eBay's Money Back Guarantee only covers you if you pay through eBay. Never pay by bank transfer outside it, however good the deal.

Who it suits

It's a players' iron: more compact than a game-improvement iron, with more feel and control. It suits single-figure and mid handicappers who want distance with some workability.
