Newer isn't always better value: a model one or two years old often costs half as much as the latest one.

Before you buy a used Titleist Vokey SM8 wedge

Look closely at the grooves. Wedges wear fastest. Sharp grooves give spin: a heavily used wedge can lose a lot of it. Ask for a close-up of the face.
Check loft and bounce. Both are stamped on the head (for example 56.10 means 56° loft, 10° bounce). Match them to the gaps in your set.
Rust can be normal. Raw-finish wedges are made to rust. It doesn't affect performance.
Pay through eBay. eBay's Money Back Guarantee only covers you if you pay through eBay. Never pay by bank transfer outside it, however good the deal.
