Ping's G series is one of the most popular ranges of forgiving clubs in the UK, and because Ping updates it every couple of years, the second-hand market is full of earlier generations at a fraction of their original price. Here's what changed between them and what each costs used today.

What changed in each generation
- G440 (2025). The latest G: a lower centre of gravity and a lighter build in the driver, with Max, LST, SFT and K heads.
- G430 (2023). Quieter, better-sounding driver heads than the G425 and a Max 10K version for maximum forgiveness. The irons gained distance from a thinner face.
- G425 (2021). A very forgiving Max driver with a movable tungsten back weight, and popular, forgiving irons.
- G410 (2019). The G410 Plus driver added a movable back weight to set a draw or fade bias; the irons were more compact than the G400.
- G400 (2017). A thinner forged face and a smaller, faster driver head, plus the G400 Max for extra forgiveness.
Which used Ping to buy
The sweet spot is usually one or two generations back: a G425 or G410 driver costs much less than a G430 and is still among the most forgiving drivers ever made. For irons, check the colour-code dot (black is standard) and the shaft: Ping's AWT and CFS steel and Alta graphite shafts are the most common. Every Ping G model is made left-handed, so lefties have plenty of choice: see used Ping golf clubs.
