The battery is the big one
A lithium battery is light and lasts years; an old lead-acid battery is heavy and may be near the end of its life. Check the battery type, its age and how many holes it still lasts (18, 27 or 36). Trolleys sold without a battery are flagged; a new lithium battery costs £100-£250.
What to check
Ask for a short video of the motor running, the trolley folding, and the GPS screen working if it has one. Check the wheels and the handle controls, and whether the charger is included.
Remote, follow and GPS
Remote-control trolleys (Motocaddy M7 Remote, Stewart Golf Q Remote) and follow-me trolleys (Stewart Golf Q Follow and X9 Follow) cost more but hold their value. GPS trolleys (Motocaddy M5 GPS, PowaKaddy FX7 and CT8 GPS) show distances on the handle.
